Conclusion

To conclude, illicit drugs have many risk factors such as the negative effect on health, increase of criminality behaviour and the body becoming dependent on the drug. This website does not suggest whether those drugs should be illegal or legal but it does argue the pros and cons for drugs being used for medical purposes. I believe that across the UK there is a wide range of drug problems and people suffering from drug addictions, imprisonment and health problems and also death from drug addiction. However, I do agree to some extent that illicit drugs should be used for heath purposes such as cannabis for a pain relief due to that fact that no deaths have been caused from cannabis and it does not lead to criminality behaviour. As explained previously from Maguire, Morgan and Reiner they explained that  alcohol related deaths have increased in England and Wales since the World War II and the deaths doubled in 1979 to 2000 from 2,506 to 5,543 which you can see there is a significant difference from both illegal drug related deaths and legal drug deaths. In reality it is known that if the drug is illegal or legal it does cause a crime, health issue, death or even criminality behaviour but not every legal drug can stop the pain and suffering for people. The relief from the pain and suffering from an illness using the drug as medical purposes can be an escape from your disorder. War on Drugs, 1971 focused on criminal punishment and incarceration for drug related offences, however there was also a negative effect on this leading to a disproportionate impact on the less advantaged people from a lower class background and black people. Throughout the years there have been billions of pounds spend on tackling drug trafficking, the campaign in America that passed the Anti Drug Abuse Act, 1986 which then had $1.7 billion allocated towards it. Thus, I strongly believe that all drugs can have a negative effect on someone but many drugs out there can help saves lives.
